Asexual vs Sexual
The Little Brown bat is a sexual animal. Fertilization occurs inside of the body, and they give birth the same as humans. They hold their offspring in their body for 9 weeks.
Mitosis/Meiosis
This organism uses mitosis and meiosis like humans. They use meiosis for their gametes (sexual cells) and they use mitosis for body cells, if they damage or need to be replaced.
Stages of development
This bat develops in about 9 weeks. When the egg and the sperm fertilize, the bat begins to grow. In 3 weeks, they grow legs and arms, in the next 3 weeks they have ears, a nose, and a mouth, and by week 8 they have fully developed their wings. They sexually develop in 3-5 years, and become adults by age 10.
Genes/Chromosomes
The Little brown bat has 72 diploid gametes. When bats have sex, each parent gives 36 chromosomes and the organism.
